General Services
The Division of Environmental Health Services performs essential functions under the authority of the Maryland Department of the Environment and the Maryland Department of Health. The division reviews plans for property development, onsite sewage disposal systems, onsite water well construction, and retail food service facility construction. The division staff inspects retail food service establishments, public swimming pools and spas, onsite septic system installation, pet stores, and camps. Environmental Health issues Certificates of Portability for drinking water wells and performs water sampling and sanitary surveys, by request. The division is responsible for performing bite investigations and managing animal quarantines for the rabies prevention program.
