Southern Maryland Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)

Supporting Behavioral Health Crisis Response in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties

This page serves as a central hub for Southern Maryland first responders and community partners to access behavioral health resources, track CIT training opportunities, and celebrate regional successes in crisis response.

About Southern Maryland CIT

The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program is a community-based partnership between law enforcement, mental health professionals, and advocacy groups. Our mission is to improve the safety of law enforcement officers and individuals in crisis while ensuring that those with behavioral health needs are connected to appropriate services.

Regional Resource Hub

To address the need for a unified regional approach, we have compiled resources across all three Southern Maryland jurisdictions: (links to open PDF)

2026 Training Schedule

CIT training is a 40-hour course designed for first responders. All sessions are held at the Paul Hall Library, Seafarers Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship in Piney Point, MD.

Registration Requirements

  • Approval: Please ensure you have agency approval before registering.
  • Pre-Test: All participants must complete the CIT Pre-Test via the Qualtrics form before the first day of class
  • Dress Code: Business casual or agency policy equivalent.
