Opioid Associated Disease Prevention and Outreach Program Services
HOPE Team risk reduction services are available every Monday 1 – 4 PM and every Wednesday 11 AM – 3 PM at the Charles County Department of Health, in the parking lot. Services are also available through our office at 10480 Theodore Green Blvd., White Plains, MD 20695.
The Risk Reduction Program, which includes the Syringe Services Program (SSP), is an HIV, Hepatitis C and other blood-borne infections prevention program that offers risk reduction education and safer injection supplies such as sterile syringes to people who inject drugs to reduce the spread of infectious diseases as safer smoking, safer snorting and safer boofing supplies. The program offers a wide scope of services to include HIV and HCV (Hepatitis C virus) testing, free sharps disposal, peer recovery support and referrals for HCV treatment. The program also offers community education on behavioral health issues, outreach and access to treatment.
Participation in the program is anonymous and confidential. All participants receive a unique identification and registration card providing protection from arrest, charge and prosecution for possession of drug paraphernalia. No identification is required for registration.
