H1N1

H1N1 Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses that causes regular outbreaks in pigs.  Check the page below for specific H1N1 information and local clinic vaccination schedule.

EXPANSION OF PRIORITY GROUPS EXTENDS TO ALL

The Charles County Department of Health will be expanding distribution of the H1N1 vaccine as recommended by Maryland Governor O’Malley.  While the 5 target groups remain a priority, healthy adults and seniors will be added to those recommended to receive the H1N1 vaccine.  Groups available to receive the H1N1 vaccine are:
 

Pregnant women
Parents, household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age
Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel
All people from 6 months through 24 years of age
Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza
Healthy adults
Seniors
